Where have I been? I completely missed the boat on the whole Twitter revolution
I'm hooked!
A little bit of snow....
....and the whole country grinds to a halt! Honestly, its like the whole country just decided to stay in and make snowmen in the garden.
Even the Football Association has gotten in on the act, asking FIFA for an extra day in the transfer window. Is that just because Arshavin might not make it to Arsenal in time for his medical? I could understand extra time if Alex Ferguson was involved, of course, but it all seems to be quiet at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, Tottenham seem to be attempting to buy every player under the sun including our own Robbie Keane (for just 15m). What worries me is whether the transfer was sanctioned by Rafa Benitez, or if the owners have once again undermined him. And if so, has he got a replacement lined up?
With just over an hour to go until the window closes, I for one hope the squad stays the same (unless someone comes in with a cheeky 9m bid for Kuyt, which I would welcome with open arms!)
UPDATE: That's it.. Keane's gone, and Liverpool are left one striker down. What's the betting Torres is injured in his next match?
2 in a week?
Unheard of, 2 updates from Martin on the Intype blog in a week! This time he's talking about paired characters, tab trigger and updates to the the conflict selector (the menu that comes up when more than one command matches the tab trigger), and the licensing library.

Testing Windows 7
I am now running Windows 7 (x64) on my HP laptop as my main OS. First impressions weren't good when i installed under VMware Server, however having subsequently installed on VirtualBox (for testing on my work laptop) I backed up my data and replaced Vista. Having previously had major issues acquiring wireless drivers for Vista x64, I was pleasantly surprised that after installing nForce chipset drivers (in Vista compatibility mode) everything looks fine and not a sight of a yellow exclamation mark to be seen.
So far, I haven't had any crashes on the HP laptop, though for some reason its crashing a lot on VirtualBox & VMware. The new slider for UAC is much nicer (and changing settings no longer require a reboot). Despite being in beta, I'd say Windows 7 is more stable for my particular uses. All of my apps have continued to work fine (except Acrobat Reader is being stubborn)
The taskbar changes have taken a little getting used to, but similarly to Vista it's not enough to turn me off the O/S. The main thing for me is stability and I've been remarkably impressed.
Oh, and to top it all off, it's generally faster than Vista and uses less memory. So despite only having a low end laptop, its running (almost) as well as XP was despite all the Aero eyecandy.
Spans
A new year, a new determination from the Intype team that they will provide more details and be more active within the community. I have my reservations, however one thing is for sure: development is still moving on. A new blog post from Martin Cohen describes the recent changes, and promises some interesting additions to the editor.
Spans allows us to split the document into an virtual fully automated tree. The feature allows us to unify all the required automation we’ve all wanted in a layered manner. With current model of stacked behaviors we were not able to layer the automation effectively (i.e. having paired character automation within a snippet).
This new functionality also affects the undo/redo which is now able to contain the information about serialization and restore it. So you can return back to snippets edited in past through undo.![]()

Although some would (and have) suggested that Intype is suffering from feature creep, according to this blog post, they are "finally finishing last tasks for the first internal testing launch of 0.3.5" - news that should make the Intype community very happy!
